Is a disk that can be used for storage. The structure of a SDD is a series of NAND gates on a chips that are flipped to store a 0 or 1.

As of 20121 SSDs are an order of magnitude faster than the same sized hard disk drives and are also less prone to breaking since they have less moving parts.
