Is a UML construct used to [see page 9, divide] use-cases in a use case diagram.

Generally the boundary is drawn as a big box including a subset of the use-cases in a use-case diagram. You can place use-cases outside of the system boundary to mark it as excluded or included in the implementation. You can also use as many boundaries as you want to reference different incremental releases.
