States that if we divide a polynomial \( f(x) \) by a linear term \( x - a \) the remainder of the fraction \( \frac{f(x)}{x - a} = f(a) \). Furthermore if \( x - a \) is a factor of \( f(x) \) then \( f(a) = 0 \).
Note: A linear term is any term with the highest power of \( x \) being 1.
