A radian is the size of the angle subtended by the arc of a circle equal to the radius. It is commonly used as an alternative to degrees for trigonometric calculations.

\begin{align} \pi^c &= 180^{\degree} & 1^c &= \frac{180^{\degree}}{\pi} \approx (57.3)^{\degree} & 1^{\degree} &= \frac{\pi^c}{180} \approx 1.75 \times (10{-2})c \end{align}
