The [see page 6, area] of the disk which no longer holds any file information as indicated by the File System.

There may still be data in unallocated space which hasn't been wiped but filesystem is no longer keeping track of it and has marked the area as writable. This could occur for example after formatting (but not zeroing) a drive.
